Christian Kamm graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree with honors from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio in 1990. He later attended Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio, obtaining his Masters of Business Administration degree in 1992. Dr. Kamm became a financial analyst for EFCO, Inc., in Salem Ohio, in 1992, later being promoted to the President of Wilkinson Company, Inc., the world’s leading manufacturer of linen and rubbish chute systems, in Stow, Ohio, where he streamlined operations and focused on branding Wilkinson internationally.
In late 1995, Dr. Kamm became the President of Kamm Investment Company, in Cleveland, Ohio, an investment management firm founded by his father, Dr. Jacob O. Kamm in 1963. On a trip to Vietnam in 1995 for Wilkinson, Dr. Kamm witnessed firsthand the emerging nature of the economy and realized investment opportunities existed for Kamm Investment. From lecturing at the University of Economics in Ho Chi Minh City and serving as a financial advisor to the Vietnam Ambassador to the United States, Le Van Bang, Dr. Kamm increased his knowledge and experience and officially opened a Kamm Investment office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam , in 1998, two years prior to the official opening of the stock market.
In 1998, Dr. Kamm facilitated the sale of Wilkinson Company, Inc., to a publicly traded firm in the United States, but remained involved with EFCO, Inc., as he continued to build the Kamm Investment operation in Vietnam.
In 2000, Dr. Kamm became the first American to invest in a publicly-traded firm on the Ho Chi Minh Exchange and the first American to serve on a listed firm Board of Directors in Vietnam. Additionally, in 2000, Dr. Kamm completed his first book, “The Dream of the Dragon,” which was published by Nine Dragons Press.
In 2002, Kamm Investment opened a wholly-owned foreign invested enterprise in Vietnam for footwear production, Du Phat (Vietnam), Inc., which was sold in 2008 to a Korean firm.
In 2002, Dr. Kamm became President of Great Lakes Associates, Inc., an operator of Great Lakes bulk freighters which he operated for four years.
In 2011, Christian Kamm received his Doctor of Business Administration degree from the International School of Management in Paris, France, completing his dissertation on management practices in Vietnam. He has provided investment and trade consulting for many firms and individuals interested in investing and doing business in Vietnam.
Dr. Kamm has served on the Boards of Directors of EFCO,Inc., Wilkinson Company, Inc., Canefco, Inc., Saigon Maritime Ltd., Du Phat (Vietnam), Ltd., and Transimex-Saigon. He is a Fellow of the Northwestern Michigan College, receiving the Meriticious Award in 2010. He is a member of the Association of Asian Studies. Dr. Kamm currently writes a column, “The Business Beat,” for the Vietnam Investment Review newspaper in Vietnam.
